When I was a child I loved watching my granddad while he sat in his kitchen or in the garden carving figurines. The ones you see here, as well as the shed, were made by him as well. He also carved bigger native scenes for our church at home and all of his friends.
For me this is something very special, because my granddad was very special to me. He was always there for me when I was a child, always cared and always had time for me and he died when I was just 12 years old. So now every year for Xmas there is my own little native scene somewhere in my living room to remind me of Himalayas our time together.
I love that my grandparents influenced me in doing things with my hands, creating things. As I still have some of his carving tools, I sometimes carve as well (not as good as him but it is still fun), but his figurines are very dear to me. I just have those few figurines so I decided to crochet the tree for them to make it look a bit nicer.
Today the calendar is a bit different as the other days you just get my story, not a pattern. I might add it when I have the time, but today I will spend time with my family and remember my granddad and just share this picture of us with you (don’t mind my scowl he was always my favourite person).
Love, Christina
