Mood Scarf Crochet Along

Hello and welcome to our first CAL!

What we are doing here is a scarf which shows the moods you had in one month. I already made mine and it is showing the moods of August. I did not work on it every day but wrote down everything for one month and started crocheting afterwards. You can either do it that way or crochet very evening (or every time you actually have time for it, I know we are all busy!)

For my scarf I broke it down to five general moods:

1. Angry

2. Stressed

3. Relaxed

4. Happy

5. Excited

But you can go as detailed as you want to. It is your scarf and shows your personality. My hubby actually found something for me on reddit (I just don’t know where exactly) which might help you:

You can chose any yarn you like (and anything starting from a size that fits needle size 4 – as I am not as well with the English versions of yarn thickness, it is a DK, isn‘t it?)

So, what to do? Here is the pattern for you (in UK terms):

Row 1

You chain 35 (or any other multiple of 7 if you want your scarf wider – it is best though if you add 14 otherwise the pattern won‘t have the stripes in the center) + 2 (one for the beginning, one for the end stitch) (35+2 stitches)

Row 2

Chain 3 (first treble), skip the fourth chain and start with trebles from chain 5 on until end of row until you have 37 trebles

Row 3

Chain 3 (first treble), *1 treble, chain 2, [double treble into the base of the second treble, do not finish off, skip 2 stitches, treble into the next stitch, do not finish off, skip 2 stitches, double treble into the next stitch, finish off all three stitches together], chain 2, treble into the same stitch as double treble*, repeat from * to *

1 treble, 2 front post double trebles, 1 treble, 2 front post double trebles, 1 treble

Repeat from * to *twice, 1 treble

Row 4

Chain 3, *1 treble, do not finish off, skip 2 stitches, double treble into next stitch, finish both stitches off, chain 2, 1 treble into the same stitch as the double treble, 1 double treble into the same stitch as before, do not finish off, chain 2, skip two stitches, treble into the next stitch, finish both stitches off*, repeat from * to *

1 treble, 2 back post double trebles, 1 treble, 2 back post double trebles, 1 treble

Repeat from * to * twice, 1 treble

Row 5

Chain 3, 1 treble into every stich of the previous row (for the chain stitches crochet into the chain space below)

Repeat rows 2-5 until you have your whole month done!

As I need to see such things here is the pattern written down in a short version:

And a picture:

I hope you will enjoy crocheting your mood scarf as much as I did! In August my little girl had her first day of school and I just love that now I will always remember how excited I was when I look at this scarf!

Please tag us with #elbehoch3 or #moodscarfcal so we can see what beautiful scarfs you made!

Take care, Christina
